Security of Payment in Practice – Australia

Managing construction payment claims and responses under the applicable Australian security-of-payment legislation.

Course overview

Security of Payment in Practice – Australia is for people preparing, receiving or responding to construction payment claims. It focuses on the applicable jurisdiction’s procedures and the internal arrangements needed to identify a claim, assess it and act within the required time.

Participants work through the relationship between contractual payment administration and the statutory process. They examine the required information, service arrangements, response documents and supporting reasons, together with the steps needed when payment or an assessment is disputed.

Participants work through a payment cycle, prepare a sample claim or response and test a register of deadlines and responsibilities. The course also considers when a disagreement needs prompt specialist advice and the information required for escalation.

Course delivery

Training is delivered face-to-face, in-house, for organisations in Australia. The course runs over one day, with dates agreed before delivery.

The course can be delivered at entry or experienced level. We agree the level before delivery so that the examples and pace suit the group.

The state or territory is confirmed before delivery and the session is prepared for that jurisdiction. A one-day session does not attempt to teach every Australian regime. We agree whether the exercises should focus on the claimant, respondent or both.
